Summer Curling Is Here!

Before our regular curling season starts, we will be having four weeks of summer curling on Friday nights in August at 7:30 pm. We will finally get a chance to throw our new rocks on the improved ice! Friday August 4th will be an open curling session with pickup games and open practice opportunities. You can also learn how to curl with one of our instructors. The cost for that first session is $30 per adult and $15 per youth. Then we will have a mini-league that runs on Friday for three weeks from August 11th through August 25th. To register for summer curling, please complete the form found here. If you have any questions, feel free to email us at events@houstoncurling.comCome take advantage of this opportunity to cool off from the summer heat!

Houston, We Have a Gold Medal!

Congratulations to our men's curling team for their first place finish at the 2017 Arena National Championships. The event was hosted in Notre Dame, IN this April. Our team of Matthew Kane, Carl Schaeper, Billy Reynolds and Chris Doremus finished with a record of 6 wins and only 1 loss. You can see detailed event information (including draw results and final standings) at the official Arena Nationals website. It will be great to put up a national championship banner at our club. We hope to send a team to next year's event too! Good curling, fellas!

Curling Night in America Watch Party!

Our first-ever "Curling Night in America" Watch Party in 2017 at Jake's Sports Bar and Grill was a blast. We are looking forward to hosting more viewing parties in 2018! Come out and chat rocks and brooms with fellow curling aficionados or get into some detailed strategy discussions with our local armchair skips. The dates and locations for upcoming parties will be posted here. Good curling, everyone!

RECENT IMPROVEMENTS

Our curling experience at Bellerive continues to get even better...

1. BETTER ICE

The ice center has installed a laser-level system on their new resurfacing machine, which should give us the flattest ice that we have seen in years and the truest curling game for both beginners and expert curlers. The recently-completed project to re-level the arena floor will only help to provide an even better playing surface.

2. NEW ROCKS

The club has secured two sets of newly-refurbished curling stones. We are excited to be able to curl with truer running surfaces on our rocks.

3. PERMANENT HOUSES

As much of an engineering success as the Scribemaster 3000 was, it is now in storage. We will no longer have to paint houses on the ice before each session and will actually be able to see them on the other end of the ice as we deliver.

4. LINED SHEETS

Now that the most recent painting work is complete, we also have hoglines, centerlines, and edge lines for our sheets of ice at Bellerive.

5. FIFTH SHEET

For the first time in years, we have five full curling sheets!

DUES

There is a $70 annual club dues fee which covers the cost of insurance and your national club USCA membership.

We hope to see everyone on the ice soon. Good curling!
